About the Climb

Koppenberg is a must do climb. This climb is merciless, one mistake can be fatal. The best cyclist in the world, Eddy Merckx, had to get off and climbed the Koppenberg with the bike on his shoulder in the Tour of Flanders in 1976.

This climb is merciless, one mistake can be fatal

Situated in Belgium it feels like hitting a cobblestoned wall. It’s a cobbled stone road 600 meters in length with grueling stretches of 22%. One of the steepest hills in Belgium with a bad, very uneven cobbled surface. Its road is also extremely narrow and the high banking on either side turns it into a natural arena. T shirts with the text ‘’I did the Koppenberg’’ are being sold, afterwards you will know why.
