The Old Willunga Hill seems within reach of mere mortals with an average 7.6% gradient over three kilometers. The climb is split into three distinct sections that soften in gradient as you ascend.
An ideal climb for the more powerful riders
The first kilometer of the climb is approximately 9%, the second kilometer eases slightly to approximately 7% but is a steady drag and the final kilometer is by far the fastest section of the climb with a gradient of 6% and plenty of painted slogans on the road to let you know the end is close.
Pro rider Richie Porte holds the record at 6.39 having an average speed of 26km/h. Probably you can tackle it somewhere around the 10 minutes mark.
